Photo: I'd like to pay a special memorial tribute to the late Father Mychal Judge, a Roman Catholic priest who gave his life on 9/11/ 2011 while giving the Last Rites to those who were dying in the collapse of the Twin Towers. Fr Judge gave his life doing what he had done most of his life: serving his community through the love of God. He paid the ultimate price because he put the spiritual needs of others first.

Fr Judge was a priest who had taken the vows of poverty, chastity (celibacy), and obedience. He was also a (celibate) homosexual, though few outside of New York City knew that. This was his personal "cross", as he sometimes called it.

Fr Judge was the first certified fatality of the World Trade Center attack.
