There's only one American Pit Bull Terrier!

Right from the get go the pit bull hating pro breed specific legislation people have been lumping as many as 30 breeds into a group they call "pit bulls" in a futile attempt to make the statistics support their genocidal campaign against pit bulls.

Their delusion would be comical if it weren't for their murderous intentions and given their disposition for lying and promoting disinformation is it any wonder considering they're trying to use "breed" specific legislation to wipe out a "type" of dog and wondering why it's falling down around the world with only ignorant small minded municipalities still insisting on trying to justify it's use and given that not one legitimate animal organization in the world supports Bsl with the American Bar Association bringing a resolution calling for all law makers to stop trying to enforce the inept and totally useless legislation.

One of their latest meme's just about sums up their knowledge of dog breeds with them claiming many other breeds are actually "pit bulls" despite the reality of the situation they insist they're experts when clearly they're expert at making stuff up and then promoting those lies as fact.

Now just for everyone's benefit I've dropped links to and excerpts from the meanings for "mastiffs" & "molosser"

Molosser - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Molosser is a category of solidly-built, large dog breeds that all descend from the same common ancestor. The name derives from Molossia,[1] an area of ancient Epirus,[2] where the large shepherd dog was known as a Molossus.[3]
Molossers typically have heavy bones, pendant ears, a relatively short and well-muscled neck, and a short muzzle.

Breeds such as the Fila BrasileiroPyrenean Mastiff (Mastín del Pirineo), Spanish MastiffTibetan MastiffCane Corso, and many others that fall into the larger category of"molossers" are of Mastiff-type, but are not true Mastiffs. The term "Mastiff", when used alone, refers specifically to the "English Mastiff" breed. Other true Mastiff breeds include the Dogue de BordeauxNeapolitan Mastiff, and Bullmastiff. Each is a separate and distinct breed.[6] The Boxer breed is also included, as it is a creation from other molossers including the Old English Bulldog.
This is a list of all breeds that fit into the Molosser category of dogs.

Mastiff - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Mastiff means a large molosser dog. The term "the Mastiff group" or "the Mastiff" has been used synonymously with the term "molosser". For example, the bulldog breeds, the Great Dane, the mountain dogs, the pit bulls and even smaller dogs such as the Boston terrier, may be considered "Mastiff" in this broad sense.

Genetic research into the dog genome has thus far confirmed the common belief that the Mastiffs share a common ancestor and form a coherent branch on the dog evolutionary tree within the molossers.[1] Historians trace the group to the Molossus, a dog bred by the Ancient Greeks.

As to the extent that Latinate words such as "Dogo" or "Dogge" may be translated as "Mastiffs", molosser breeds such as the Dogo Argentino and Dogo Canario may also be considered "Mastiffs". However, these terms may refer not only to breeds called "Mastiffs" in English, but also to Bulldogs and pit bulls. In addition, historical records of the development of these breeds shows that they have not only Mastiff and other molosser ancestry, but also dogs from several other branches, including sighthounds, terriers, and scenthounds.[citation needed]

Now here's their meme and as you can see these people are either extremely ignorant or bold faced liars as they promote this type of garbage.

American Bandogge Mastiff Dog Breed Information and Pictures

The word "Bandogge" is the generic name for any Bulldog-type Mastiff breed. The Bandogge has a very prominent musculature and an angulation that gives the dog a very athletic and agile look. Most are black brindle but others colors include black, blue, red and tawny.

The American Canine Hybrid Club recognizes the American Bulldog crossed with a Mastiff as an American Bandogge. The Designer Dogs Kennel Club recognizes the American Bulldog crossed with the Mastiff as the American Masti-Bull.

Dogo Argentino - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Dogo Argentino, also known as the Argentine Mastiff, is a large, white, muscular dog that was developed in Argentina primarily for the purpose of big-game hunting, including wild boar; the breeder, Antonio Nores Martínez, also wanted a dog that would exhibit steadfast bravery and willingly protect its human companion to the death. It was first bred in 1928, from the Cordoba Fighting Dogalong with a wide array of other breeds including the Great Dane.

In 1928, Antonio Nores Martinez, a medical doctor, professor and surgeon, set out to breed a big game hunting dog that was also capable of being a loyal pet and guard dog. Antonio Martinez picked the Cordoba Fighting Dog to be the base for the breed.[8] This breed is extinct today, but it was said that as a large and ferocious dog, it was a great hunter. Martinez crossed it with the Great DaneBoxerSpanish MastiffOld English BulldogBull TerrierGreat PyreneesPointerIrish Wolfhound and Dogue de Bordeaux.[8] Nores Martinez continued to develop the breed via selective breeding to introduce the desired traits.

American Bulldog - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The American Bulldog is a breed of working dog. The names associated with the Bully and Standard types are those of the breeders who were influential in developing them, John D. Johnson (Bully) and Alan Scott (Standard).

Perhaps the most important role of the bulldog and the reason for its survival, and in fact why it thrived throughout the South, was because of the presence of feral pigs, introduced to the New World and without predators. The bulldogs were the settlers' only means of sufficiently dealing with the vermin. By World War II, the breed was near extinction until John D. Johnson and his father scoured the back roads of the South looking for the best specimens to revive the breed. During this time a young Alan Scott grew an interest in Johnson's dogs and began to work with him on the revitalization process. At some point, Alan Scott began infusing non-Johnson catch bulldogs from working Southern farms with John D. Johnson's line, creating the now Standard American Bulldog. At another point, Johnson began crossing his line with an atavistic English bulldog from the North that had maintained its genetic athletic vigor.

Perro de Presa Canario - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Perro de Presa Canario, A.K.A. the Canary Mastiff, is a large Molosser-typedog breed originally bred for working livestock. The name of the breed is Spanish, means "Canarian catch dog", and is often shortened to "Presa Canario" or simply "Presa". The breed is sometimes also called Dogo Canario, meaning "Canarian Molosser".

The American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) is adog breed.[2] It is a medium-sized, solidly-built, short-haired dog whose early ancestors came from the British Isles. A member of the molosser breed group, both the American Staffordshire Terrier and the American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) were bred from the same lineage, but received different names from the two American kennel clubs; American Staffordshire Terrier was the name given by theAmerican Kennel Club (AKC), and American Pit Bull Terrier by the United Kennel Club (UKC). When compared with the English Staffordshire Bull Terrier(another breed within the type commonly called pit bulls), the American Pit Bull Terrier is larger by margins of 6–8 inches (15–20 cm) in height and 25–35 pounds (11–16 kg) in weight. The American Pit Bull Terrier varies in size. Males normally is about 18-19 inches (45-48 cm) in height and around 35-63 pounds (15-29 kg) in weight. Females is normally around 17-18 inches (43-45 cm) in height and 30-57 pounds (13-26 kg) in weight.

The Pit Bull Terrier was created by breeding Old English Terriersand Old English Bulldogs together to produce a dog that combined the gameness of the terrier with the strength and athleticism of the bulldog.[4] These dogs were bred in England, and arrived in the United States where they became the direct ancestors of the American Pitbull Terrier. In the United Kingdom, pit bulls were used in bloodsports such as bull baiting, bear baiting. These bloodsports were officially eliminated in 1835 as Britain began to introduce animal welfare laws.

Olde English Bulldogge - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Olde English Bulldogge is a recently created American dog breed. In the 1970s David Leavitt created a true-breeding lineage as a re-creation of the healthier working bulldog from the early 1800s in England. Using a breeding scheme developed for cattle, Leavitt crossedEnglish bulldogs and American Bulldogs. The result was an athletic breed that looks similar to the bulldogs of 1820 but also has a friendly temperament. Leavitt has since disassociated himself with this name for the breed and set up the Leavitt Bulldog as its name due to many later OEB litters losing many of the qualities of his original OEB litter. David Leavitt's "Leavitt Bulldogs" only consist of purebred Olde English Bulldogs. Regardless of this, the original name has been adopted by the United Kennel Club whose breed standard is adopted as of 1 January 2014.

The Olde English Bulldogge was an attempt to recreate the "Regency Period Bull Baiter" and was developed in the early 1970s by David Leavitt, of Coatesville, PA.[1] Leavitt began his project in 1971 utilizing the cattle line breeding scheme of Dr. Fechimer from Ohio State University.[1] The goal was to create a dog with the look, health, and athleticism of the original bull-baiting dogs, but with a much less aggressive temperament.[1] The foundation crosses consisted of ½ English Bulldog, and the other half American Bulldog.[1] After many planned crosses, the Olde English Bulldogge emerged and began to breed true.[2]

American Staffordshire Terrier - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The American Staffordshire Terrier, also known as Amstaff (in USA) or simplyStafford, is a medium-sized, short-coated American dog breed. It is one of several breeds commonly known as pit bulls.[2][3]In the early part of the twentieth century the breed gained social stature and was accepted by the American Kennel Club in 1936.[4] The name was changed to reflect difference from the Staffordshire Bull Terrier of England.

In 1936 Amstaffs were accepted for registration in theAmerican Kennel Club (AKC) Stud Book as Staffordshire Terriers, belonging to the terrier and molosser groups. The name of the breed was revised January 1, 1969 to American Staffordshire Terrier; breeders in the United States had developed a variety which was heavier in weight than theStaffordshire Bull Terrier of England. The name change was to distinguish them as separate breeds.

Labrabull Dog Breed Information and Pictures

The Labrabull is not a purebred dog. It is a cross between the Labrador Retriever and the American Pit Bull Terrier. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in any of the breeds in the hybrid. Not all of these designer hybrid dogs being bred are 50% purebred to 50% purebred. It is very common for breeders to breedmulti-generation crosses.

Staffordshire Bull Terrier - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Staffordshire Bull Terrier is a medium-sized, short-coated breed of dog.[2] It is of English lineage, and is one of several breeds generally considered to be within the pit bull type

As time went on the modern breed has become one with a temperament suitable for a pet and companion. It gained respectability, becoming a dog worthy to show, and was accepted by The Kennel Club of the United Kingdom as the Staffordshire Bull Terrier in 1935

The breed attained recognition by the Kennel Club on 25 May 1935. The Staffordshire Bull Terrier Club was formed in June 1935, one month after the breed was recognised by the Kennel Club. It is unusual for a breed to be recognised without a club in existence first, and even more unusual for there not to have been a breed standard in place. A standard was not drawn up until June 1935 at the Old Cross Guns, a Black Country pub in Cradley Heath in the West Midlands.

Tosa (dog) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Tosa (土佐?, also called the Tosa Inuor Japanese Mastiff) is a breed of dog ofJapanese origin that is considered rare. It was originally bred in Tosa (present dayKōchi) as a fighting dog and still is today.

This breed originated in the second half of the nineteenth century. The breed started from the native Shikoku-Inu, an indigenous dog weighing about 25 kilograms (45 pounds) and standing about 55 centimetres high, which closely resembles the European Spitz. These dogs were crossed with European dog breeds, such as the Old English Bulldogin 1872, Mastiff in 1874, St. BernardGerman Pointer in 1876, Great Dane in 1924, and the Bull Terrier.[2] The aim was to breed a larger, more powerful dog. The heyday of Tosa breeding was between 1924 and 1933, when it was said that there were more than 5,000 Tosa breeders in Japan.

Cane Corso - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Cane Corso, pronounced kha-neh kor-so [ˈkaːne ˈkɔrso] from Italian Cane (dog) and Corso (either meaning courtyard or guard), also known as the Italian Mastiff, is a large Italian breed of dog, for years valued highly in Italy as a companion, guard dog, and hunter.

The Cane Corso is a descendant of the canis pugnax,[3] dogs used by the Romans in warfare. Its name derives from cane da corso, an old term for those catch dogs used in rural activities (for cattle and swine; boar hunting, and bear fighting) as distinct from cane da camera which indicates the catch dog kept as a bodyguard. In the recent past, its distribution was limited to some regions of Southern Italy, especially in Basilicata,Campania, and Apulia.[3]
The Cane Corso is a catch dog used with cattle and swine, and also in wild boar hunts. Cane Corso were also used to guard property, livestock, and families, and some continue to be used for this purpose today. Historically it has also been used by night watchmen, keepers, and, in the past, by carters and drovers. In the more distant past this breed was common all over Italy, as an ample iconography and historiography testify.
As life changed in the southern Italian rural farms in the 20th century, the Corso began to become rare. A group of enthusiasts began recovery activities designed to bring the dog back from near extinction in the late 1970s. By 1994, the breed was fully accepted by the Italian Kennel Club (ENCI) as the 14th Italian breed of dog. The FCI provisionally accepted the Corso in 1997, and ten years later was fully recognised internationally. In the US, the American Kennel Club first recognized the Cane Corso in 2010.[1] The popularity of the breed continues to grow, ranking in 50th place in the United States in 2013, a jump from 60th place in 2012.[4]

The difference between the sexes is in the head, the circumference is greater in dogs than in bitches. The Perro de Presa Mallorquin was almost extinct after World War II, and the few remaining dogs were crossed with Ca de BestiarEnglish Bulldog and perhaps Perro de Toro. While extant specimens are allcrossbred, the population as a whole retains standardized breed recognition in two kennel clubsFédération Cynologique Internationale, and United Kennel Club(using the FCI standard).

The Balearic Islands are an archipelago of four large islands and eleven small islands in the Mediterranean off the east coast of Spain. Its culture and language are Catalan-based. The largest of these islands isMajorca (Mallorca).
In 1232, the King of Aragon expelled the Moors from the Balearics. The Spanish brought with them the Iberian mastiff. Many of today's Spanish breeds, of mastiffs, claim to be this breed; the Spanish Mastiff, the Pyrenean Mastiff, and the old Spanish Alano. Some Ca de Bestiar breeders believe that their dog was the breed that King James I brought over.

Fila Brasileiro - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Fila Brasileiro (Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈfilɐ ˌbraziˈlejɾu]) also known as the Brazilian Mastiff is a large workingbreed of dog developed in Brazil. It is known for its superb tracking ability, aggressiveness and an unforgiving impetuous temperament. When a Brazilian Mastiff finds its quarry, it does not attack it, but rather holds it at bay until the hunter arrives. Owing to these qualities, the Brazilian Mastiff is used as a guard dog, as a shepherd dog for herding livestock and as a hunting dog for tracking and controlling large prey. When slavery was legal in Brazil, the Brazilian Mastiff was used to return fugitives unharmed to their slave masters. This breed has been banned in many countries because of its temperament and potential for aggression,

The Fila Brasileiro is believed to be a descendant of the 15th-century English Mastiffbloodhoundbulldog andRafeiro do Alentejo. The Fila Brasileiro breed was bred and raised primarily on large plantations and cattle farms where they originated.
They were taught to chase down jaguars, cattle, and other animals, as well as runaway slaves. The dogs would grab the slave or animals by the neck and hold them until the farmer arrived. This instinct can be observed among puppies when they are playing.
The first written standard of the breed was edited in 1946. The Paulistas were responsible for organizing a planned breeding program and opening a stud book to register dogs. Dr. Paulo Santos Cruz began to systematically breed the Fila Brasileiro and also contributed largely in setting the CAFIB standard, and who now therefore, has the right to be called the "Father" of the Fila Brasileiro.

Well as you can see while 3-4 breeds on that meme have Apbt in their ancestry they're clearly not pit bulls and this is just another in an ever growing list of deliberate attempts to deceive the public in to believing their disinformation which indicates the haters are becoming increasingly desperate as breed specific legislation is either repealed or legislated against by towns and countries around the world.

Montreal shocked the world recently by going against the world wide trends and actually buying into the anti pit bull propaganda machines lies and disinformation something which can easily be avoided by googling the name of the owner of dogsbite, colleen Lynn.

If a city official were to actually google "debunking dogsbite" and here's what you get.....
