Chicago pet personality attacks pit bulls

Chicago, IL: Joshua-Paul Angell is a fellowExaminer writer and hosts a syndicated radio program which airs 5 times per week. Angell proclaims to "raise awareness of issues not discussed in much of the media," but a scan of his headlines looks like a page from DogsBite.org, a site run by Colleen Lynn, a proclaimed anti-pit bull advocate who bases her website on allegedly inaccurate statistics.
The series of sensational headlines which meet the eye are anything but "issues not discussed in much of the media." In fact, according to recent studies, the question "does negative media cause society's dislike of pit bulls" is addressed by Missouri State Western University.
This particular study examines the use of photographs to inflame the reader. Angell's recent story headlined, "Man on life support after being attacked by unleased pit bull," is accompanied by a the image of a vicious and snarling dog compliments of a group called 'Ban the Breed.' No organized data could be located about the group run by a Sandy McKee. However, the photograph and article are linked to another subversive blog,"Dogs Bite Decatur AL.com."
A simple search for examples of Angell's headlines produced an underworld of hate and effort to annihilate entire breeds of dogs. This commentary is not to prohibit freedom of speech, but to question as the Missouri University study attempted to do. Are all of these sensational stories and blogs moving toward any sort of solution? Or, are they only produced to inspire a nationwide lynch mob to wipe out pit bull breeds or any other dog photographed in a scary picture?
Headlines such as "Pit bull attacks elderly woman in Evanston; pit bulls most dangerous dogs" and "Pit Bulls attack Chicago man; left fighting for his life, leg amputated" are recent stories featured by Angell and accompanied by horrendous photographs. While Mr. Angell's freedom of speech is certainly honored, these stories have a common theme. While there are some bad dog owners who've either mis-trained or failed to train their pets, are there no good dog stories to fuel Angell's column?
Or, is Mr. Angell is aligning himself with Colleen Lynn and 'Craven Desires' Dawn James in hopes for another Denver, Colorado in which thousands of family pets were taken from their families and killed. Certainly, no animal lover wants innocent lives destroyed, but if sensational headline-grabbing stories about these animals are only stories published, these unfair bans and the killing will continue.
The American Pit Bull Examiner is on a mission. We want to publish a good media story for every bad one which has been over-published. Our work is cut out for us, but we will not give up. There are more good dogs than bad owners.
Help by posting a positive pit bull story in today's comments.
