Betsy Christison They deserve a chance to compete and survive just like any creature.. but we don't bring them into our HOMES and let them live FREELY with our children and family members and then deny that they are dangerous! We eliminate them when they invade our living space or we take antibiotics to kill them when they infect our bodies. I mean think of this scenario .. a picture of a brown recluse spider sitting on the couch next to an infant and the caption says "OH he's SO dangerous LOL... my SWEET cute spindly little spider would never hurt anyone! ".. The next moment it bites the child and he gets a flesh would so bad his leg has to be amputated. Would anyone defend that person for allowing a highly toxic spider to have access to a baby? OF course not! But when it comes to pit bulls, all reason goes out the window.

Sarah May A 2-month-old boy was killed Sunday afternoon and his mother was injured when the family’s pit bull attacked the child inside their Dallas home, police said.

Police said a man left his son — later identified as Brayden Wilson — alone with the dog as he went outside to turn on their sprinkler system at their home on the 6800 block of Beechnut Street.

When the man walked back into the house, the dog was attacking the child as he sat in a bouncing chair, police said.

The dog then attacked the boy’s mother, biting her twice.

In a scene almost too sickening to imagine, a 2-month-old baby in a bouncy seat was attacked and fatally mutilated by the family’s pit bull.

The baby’s grandmother expressed the family’s complete shock. The dog had been in the family and around other children for eight years without problems, she said.

Betsy Christison Well of course I got 3 PMs overnight from Pitters following my comment on the OP! So glad they want to learn the truth about their dogs! Ok, maybe they just want to confront, deny and abuse me.. HAHA!!

Dana X Steven Renfrow These people honestly feel assured of their pit bull's safety. They see nothing wrong with their goofy, affectionate pet, not when so many "animal rights" groups try to downplay, deny, and distort the sad truth. Did their child survive? Well, good. That's so great, but meantime across the country other people who felt the same way are suddenly horrified when that same pit bull that lovingly played with their child has suddenly gone predatory and won't let go of the child's face. As a parent, you must look at all the facts. Is it possible for a pit bull to not harm a child? Sure, but does that matter when severe harm or death is possible still? Would any mom want a pit bull near their child knowing there is no way of knowing how it will act, even when it spends years being gentle and sweet? We really need to CDC to warn the unknowing, deceived public. Until that happens, this will keep happening. How sweet, how cute, a big pit bull being sweet with a baby. It will go viral! Other parents will attempt this. Many, many more children will be crippled for life or killed.

Betsy Christison Cody.. the deal is that some risks in life are necessary to functioning and living in our world, and some are arbitrary....in other words, there is no downside to NOT taking that risk. If owning a dog that has a demonstrated higher probability of attacking and maiming or killing a human being is a risk you want to take with YOURSELF... then that is your business. But unfortunately you live in a family with other people, including small children, and a community of neighbors and others in your city who can and still may be harmed seriously by your choice to own a pit bull. The statistics and unpredictability are the issue here. Your dog has not hurt you in the time you've had him. That does not in any way reduce the fact that your dog COULD turn on your child in one second. Or it would go after the next person who comes into your house. Why not own a dog that cannot kill someone?

Sarah May An article on the psychological characteristic of vicious dog owners has just appeared online in the compelling academic publication, The Journal of Forensic Sciences, finding that those who who own dangerous dogs are more likely to endorse antisocial and psychopathic character traits and more likely to report criminal behaviour.

The study was led by psychologist Laurie Ragatz who collected data from 869 college students who completed an anonymous online questionnaire assessing type of dog owned, criminal behaviors, attitudes towards animal abuse, psychopathy, and personality.

 As you can see Betsy brags about getting messages from "pitters" as she calls her victims, I've spoken to the child's mother and she has asked Betsy to remove her picture and was blocked by Betsy.

 Now I've grabbed these 2 comments from the thread at the head of the page just to make a point as these comments feature breed specific legislation advocates using one of their main tools the disinformation that pit bulls attack because of their fighting heritage "it's in their genes" is their main catch cry.......

I've never heard a bigger load of garbage in my life and here's why 

A. If pit bulls attack because of their fighting genes how do Bsl advocates explain away the 128 dog bite related fatalities involving non pit bull type dogs between 2005-2015. ( Source - dogsbite)

B. If all pit bulls attack "it's only a matter of time before their genes kick in and they go pit" Bsl advocates regularly claim whereas according to dogsbut there's been an average of 23 deaths per year throughout 2005 to 2015 alleged to have involved pit bulls considering there's an estimated pit bull population of 4-6,000,000 million pit bulls doesn't that kind of blow their logic clean out of the water?

C. The fact that over 30 breeds and types of dogs have been involved in fatal attacks and the majority have no fighting heritage in their ancestry also confirms the "it's in their genes" argument is utter nonsense.

All the studies done by legitimate reputable animal organizations in many different countries all concur that breed plays little part in dog bite related fatalities with far more complex issues at play and to try and blame a breed is simplistic and naive to say the least by banning a "specific" breed you only can hope to prevent "specific" victims.

All the leading organizations world wide out rightly reject breed specific legislation in favor of breed neutral owner specific legislation.
