Ali Haefke Alice Powell can't identify pit bulls

A quick read of this post confirms most pit bull haters really don't have a clue, Jan Smith is an admin and her claims are ludicrous what's a "war dog"?

They don't accept actual facts and make stuff up as they go along obviously they're somewhat confused when considering the distinctions between breeds and/or types of dog.

Rhonda Wells Ray The problem with pits is that they aren't pure. They can determine mastiff and bulldog breeds in a test done on a "pitbull" but a pitbull is a mix of many breeds. Mongrels that are dangerous and unpredictable.

Julia Lewis She calls the site "working pit bull" but pit bulls don't have any work to do! They were bred to fight but you can't call that a job, like rounding up sheep, pulling sleds, or flushing game is.

Julia Lewis Rhonda Wells Ray, the pit bull isn't a mix of lots of different breeds. They, the American Staffordshire, the English Staffie are really the same dog. The Americans took our Staffie to the US, made it a bit bigger and it became known as the American Staffordshire or the pit bull terrier, according to the registry. The American bull dog is a recreation of the old Elizabethan bear baiting dog that existed before they crossed it with a terrier, to make it more agile for dog fighting (that was when bull and bear baiting was outlawed). Alexandra Semyonova, who has written extensively on the subject, describes pit bull type dogs, which is what these are, as biologically the same dog.

Jan Smith Any dog with any fighting bulldog / war dog genes in it at all is dangerous. Doesn't matter whether it's pedigree "pure" pit / war type or a mix including those types.

Jan Smith The impulsive aggression trait is not only heritable, it's *strongly* heritable. Any mix that has even a small amount of the bulldog / war dog type in it will include the risk of sudden, lethal attack:

Lynne Smith Since "pit bull" is a type and not a breed, there is no test for it. The Wisdom Panel DNA test states this clearly on their web site, and that pit bulls tested will often come up as a mix of various breeds, usually a bully breed in there but not always. That doesn't mean the dog is not a pit bull! Pit bull organizations like NCRC use these tests to "prove" pit bulls are non-pit mutts and encourage pit bull owners to test their dog and believe the test - they don't explain what the testing company says. This is a fact everyone should know and actively promote!

Contrary to their wild claims the American Pit Bull Terrier is a breed distinct from many bully types and breeds and the fact is there's never been a confirmed human death involving a legitimate papered Apbt.
