Larry Glaze, La Grande Oregon superintendent teaching children to be RACIST & to DISCRIMINATE – CALL TO ACTION
By Sloane Quealy-Miner
Larry Glaze, the Superintendent of the La Grande Oregon school district has sent a clear message to the community that racism and discrimination are acceptable.
Deputy Lani Blaylock with the Union County Sheriff’s Animal Enforcement Division takes part in a dog bite safety program with her pit bull Bomani at the elementary school. Together they teach children how to avoid dog bites. The program run by the Blue Mountain Humane Association was recently credited for saving a third grader from serious injury when he was attacked by a dog (not a pit bull or pit bull mix). But the lifesaving program will not continue due to Larry Glaze’s ignorance.
Last week when Glaze saw Deputy Blaylock and Bomani at school he immediately ordered them out of the building. Not because of anything Bomani has done, but because Glaze says pit bulls are too aggressive for schools. Larry Glaze is clearly a breedist, the canine equivalent to a racist. He judges based on appearances, not on an individuals’ behavior. And Larry discriminates based on stereotypes. He embodies dangerous attributes that should not be taught to our children.
Fortunately Cathie Falck the President of Blue Mountain Humane Association has common sense and will not tolerate this hateful act by Larry Glaze. “We will not be providing dog bite-safety instruction in the La Grande School District,” she said. “A breed ban is wrong, it is unfair. We feel that we need to take a stand. We should not be condemning a dog just because of its breed.”
Larry Glaze has chosen to judge Bomani and millions of other well-adjusted pit bulls based on a very loose appearance-based definition of breed, not on individual behavior. Glaze is clearly too daft to realize that aggression is not a breed issue, it is a dog issue. Any dog can be “trained” to behave aggressively and all dogs can bite.
CALL TO ACTION: Contact Larry Glaze and the La Grande School Board and let them know discrimination will not be tolerated. It is wrong to demonize entire breeds of dogs that fall under the term pit bull due to the bad acts of a few. Encourage them to do the right thing and lift the pit bull ban. PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO CALL LARRY PERSONALLY AS HE IS VERY ABUSIVE AND HOSTILE AND THIS SHOULD ALSO BE REPORTED TO THE SCHOOL BOARD.
