Larry no matter how far you all twist the actual facts you won't change them and the fact is Breed Specific Legislation is the tool of the pitbull hater and can only ever stop fatalities which involve pitbulls and if you took the time to talk to the families and friends of victims of non banned breeds/types then you'd actually discover those victims are every bit as dead as pitbull victims and they deserve a voice.
Breed specific Legislation was created out of hateful revenge to eradicate pitbulls and Colleen Lynn freely admits that it was thought that killing pitbulls would automatically lower the dog bite fatalities but it hasn't in fact the death toll for 2014 was well above average.
It doesn't matter whether I love or hate dogs! If I'm walking down the street and your dog approaches me uncontrolled, you're a bad dog owner! Period. I love dogs, but if a strange dog approaches me and that dog is uncontrolled, it's either a stray or owned by a bad dog owner.
I don't even have to personally know the owner. I'm talking about dogs escaping their property, or their house, or their pen, or their leash or slipping their collar. Too many people allow their dogs to escape because they are BAD owners, and this is where the problem lies. I understand shit happens and people make mistakes, but when a person allows their dog to escape their property, they don't deserve to own a dog.
They may not even be home when it happens, in which case they are still a BAD owner... now you take those same scenarios and the dog is a pit bull, the problem just became worse. Why? Because those dogs are highly aggressive toward strangers, especially when they're uncontrolled. Other breeds are as well, but as of right now we don't have a problem with them because folks who own Rottweilers, mastiffs, etc. understand what type of dog they keep and take the necessary steps to prevent that from happening.
Pit bull owners, on the other hand, treat their dangerous dogs as if their harmless little lap dogs. Their lackadaisical in their containment efforts and underestimate the breed they keep. They escape and wind up hurting or killing someone or something... Now tell me again how it's my responsibility to let you know whether or not I like dogs before you allow yours around me...
You're a classic example of the narrow minded, slack ass dog owner who cares more about his right to own whatever animal he wants than my right to walk safely down the street.
Pit bulls are dangerous, regardless of how they're raised. They are not your ordinary dog, and should be kept with the public's safety utmost in mind, and not enough owners understand this.

Well Larry you're entitled to your opinion obviously but you're making assumptions about me and my dogs and in a stereotypical rant you accuse me of being a "slack" owner without ever having met me or my dogs.
The fact is I want to stop all the dog related deaths and that's not going to happen using Bsl because if you focus on a breed/type of dog you'll only ever be able to stop attacks and deaths involving those dogs and what about all the rest?
Breed Specific Legislation supporters seem content to sacrifice non banned breed victims in order to accomplish their eradicate all pitbulls campaign and that's a fact!
Equally factual is the statement that there is not one legitimate animal organization in the world that supports Bsl, the American Bar Association has drafted advice stating quite clearly they don't support the use of Bsl so is it any wonder it's being repealed left right and centre?
